Testing. Testing. | Green Lake Dirt Jumps

Met up with Brian at the Green Lake Dirt Jumps on April 1st to do a little testing. Since picking up two new lenses last month I needed to put them to the test to see how well they do, and I think they did pretty good!

This day was a bit of a challenge as there were a lot of firsts happening in one day.
– First time shooting here
– First time shooting dirt jumps
– First time shooting BMX with the 5D MK III’s
– First time shooting shooting action with the new (to me) 16-35 f2.8 & 70-200 f2.8 IS

I would have to say it was a pretty successful day! I only had about 2 hours to shoot before I had to be somewhere else, and unfortunately Brian had a total of 3 flats while we were there so riding was a bit limited. However, towards the end I started to feel comfortable with good vantage points and getting the AF to hit as he comes into frame out of nowhere. The very last frame is by far my favorite from the day! This is really close to what I was visualizing being able to create here. I still have A LOT to learn about shooting BMX/MTB in elements like this (a lot harder than at the skate park), but I a very happy with the results.

Any MTB/BMX riders out there, lets shoot!

Hey look, a bunny!
